Hello world! I’m Arden. I work at Microsoft Bing as a Software Development Engineer since June 2012. My team is AdCenter Relevance, where we focus on improving the relevance and revenue of advertisements shown at Bing’s search result page. I was an intern at Bing on Summer 2011, where I worked with the Index Generation team. Previously, I interned at Vodafone and Alcatel-Lucent.
I recently completed my Master’s in Computer Science at Brown University on May 2012. My specialization was Information Retrieval and Machine Learning. My thesis is a personal news aggregation website. The system enables users to receive fresh and relevant news about the topics they are particularly interested in. Performs personalized retrieval and ranking by analyzing user behavior. It gives the audience full control about the news they want to read, and filters the information based on their specific needs. Which I believe is a fundamental matter in today’s data-driven knowledge era. I worked with Prof Eli Upfal during my Master’s degree.
I was a visiting student at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory – CSAIL for a semester on Fall 2011, while I was pursuing my degree at Brown. I completed my Bachelor’s in Computer Science at Bogazici University on May 2010. I was born and raised in Istanbul – Turkey, and this is my third year in the U.S. I currently live in Seattle Area, WA.
I write blog posts about search engines where I explain how to implement one in detail with the code that I have written. I also share various programming interview questions with my solutions. I hope that these articles will be informative to anyone interested in these areas.
